JICA(国際協力機構) x Artbar Tokyo ～難民と描く平和～

横浜で開催されるアフリカの国際会議に合わせて、JICA(開発途上国への国際協力を行う機関)と協力し、アートを通じてアフリカを感じるスペシャルイベントを開催します！

ウガンダで「アート」活動をおこなっているNGO「Artolution」のアーティストと一緒に、お1人1点ずつ「平和」をテーマに作品を描いて頂きます。完成した作品はウガンダの難民が描いた作品と一緒にひとつの大きな絵画として、国際会議会場に展示されます！一般の方も入場可能なエリアですので、ぜひ会場にて完成品をご覧ください。

 

JICAの皆様からメッセージ

「平和」という言葉から、何を思い浮かべますか？

遠いアフリカの国の子どもたちは、「平和」から何を思い描くでしょうか？

その子どもたちが、祖国を追われた「難民」であったら、どうでしょうか。

アフリカの難民の子どもたちと、「平和」を描いてみませんか！？

このたび、Artbar Yokohama Motomachiにて、JICA（国際協力機構）とアートイベントを開催することとなりました。

難民支援に従事するウガンダ出身のアーティストも参加予定であり、普段は遠く離れた「アフリカ」や、「アフリカのアート」に触れられるような企画となっています。

皆様の作品は、アフリカ（ウガンダ）にいる難民が描いた作品と合わせ、一つの大きな作品とさせていただく予定です。

また、「アートｘアフリカ～難民と描く平和～」をテーマとしたその作品は、8月20～22日に横浜で開催される国際会議（TICAD9：第９回アフリカ国際開発会議）で展示されます。

皆さまとアフリカ難民が共に描いた絵が、国際会議に彩りを添え、日本や世界の多くの人たちがアフリカや平和を考えるきっかけを提供するかもしれません。

JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) x Artbar Tokyo — Painting Peace with Refugees

In conjunction with an international African conference held in Yokohama, we’re teaming up with JICA (an agency that supports international cooperation with developing countries) to host a special event that lets participants connect with Africa through art.

You’ll create your own artwork, themed around “peace,” alongside artists from Artolution, an NGO engaged in art-based activities in Uganda.

The completed artworks will be combined with pieces created by refugees in Uganda to form a large collaborative mural, which will be displayed at the international conference venue!

 

Message from JICA

What comes to mind when you hear the word “peace”?

What might children in distant African countries imagine when they hear that word?

And what if those children were refugees, forced to flee their homelands?

Would you like to paint “peace” together with refugee children from Africa?

We are excited to announce a special art event at Artbar Yokohama Motomachi in collaboration with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

An artist originally from Uganda, who is actively involved in supporting refugees, will be joining us for this event.

This is a unique opportunity to connect with “Africa” and explore “African art”—something we don’t often experience in our everyday lives.

Your artwork will be combined with pieces created by refugee children in Uganda to form a large collaborative artwork.

The final work, themed “Art x Africa: Drawing Peace with Refugees,” will be exhibited at the upcoming international conference TICAD 9 (The 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development), taking place in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.

The artwork you create—together with African refugee children—may inspire many people in Japan and around the world to reflect on Africa, and what peace truly means.

 

Important notice
-We will use acrylic paint that is difficult to wash it off. Please participate in appropriate attire.
-This is a free event, but space is limited, so please make sure to reserve spots for everyone in your group.
-Minors are not allowed to participate in this event.
